July 3, 2017Biñan City hosted the 43rd Regional Launch of the National Nutrition Month on July 03, 2017 at Biñan City Hall, Brgy. Zapote, Biñan City, Laguna. In its opening ceremony, Mayor Arman Dimaguila welcomed Ms. Carina Z. Santiago, the Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator of Region IV-A. He acknowledged guests from Cavite, Laguna, Batangas. Rizal, and Quezon. Our local chief executive is known to value and support nutrition programs such as feeding and milk-letting projects. He also promoted ‘Pinggang Pinoy’ and the ‘Ten Kumainments’ of DOH to eliminate the number of malnutrition in the city. 4 Barangays, San Antonio, Malaban, Malamig and Soro-Soro were recognized by Regional Evaluation Team for their dedication and tireless effort in contributing to the success of the Monitoring and Evaluation on Local Level Plan Implementation on Nutrition Program 2016. On the other hand, members of the National Nutrition Council and Communicators’ Network for Nutrition IV-A assessed the City Hall’s Canteen, San Vicente Elementary School, Lina’s Canteen and Vivian’s Restaurant; ensuring that healthy and nutritious menu options on a daily basis is offered. Last year, the City of Biñan had been conferred with the Green Banner Award and still doing its best to maintain the award. The Green Banner Award is the highest honor given to local government units (LGUs) with excellent implementation and management of nutritional programs. Mayor Arman, together with the City Nutrition Office, will continue the initiated projects and will further develop nutrition programs.more photos
