Japan outlasts Thailand in AVC 19th Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship

For the second time, the 19th Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship finals was held at our very own Alonte Sports Arena, City of Biñan on August 17. Japan won over Thailand, 26-28, 20-25, 25-16, 25-16, 15-7, in this year’s edition. Japan, which dethroned China in the semifinals, restored lost glory and progressed from a sixth place finish in the 2015 edition held in Tianjin, China. Shinnabe Risa was this year’s MVP finishing 19 points for Japan. Thailand, on the other hand, placed second. Noostara Tomkom bagged her fourth best setter award in the tournament, and Hattaya Bamrungsuk was the first best middle blocker.more photos
