First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill 2017

Friday, March 31, 2017 Led by our beloved City Mayor Atty. Walfredo R. Dimaguila, Jr., members of the City Council, department heads, and Mrs. Marie Bonaqua, Head of the Biñan City Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office (BCDRRMO), our city participated in the first quarter nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill. At exactly 2:00 pm last March 31 and upon hearing the sound of a whistle and a siren, everyone at the city hall (including city employees, taxpayers, PWDs, students, volunteers, and members of NGOs) went out as part of the drill. Fire trucks and ambulance units arrived at the scene and our noble firefighters worked on eradicating the fire. There was also a reenactment showing the rescue of three male survivors through the use of fire truck ladders. Our firefighters got them out from 2nd and 3rd floors through their windows. Participation in this nationwide activity is important to prepare both our constituents and members of the emergency units if an earthquake occurs.
