Five hundred national senior citizen pensioners were granted their quarterly payout on June 27, 2017 at the Alonte Sports Arena which was led by Mayor Arman Dimaguila and members of the City Social Welfare and Development Office. Mrs. Lourdes Esquivel Dimaguila, members of the City Council and the Presidents of senior citizen in barangays were also present in the said activity. The National Government funded the payout for the pensioners with a total of Php 750, 000. Each received Php 1,500 payout that covered the month of April, May and June. Mayor Arman, together with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD), said that they were coordinating with the National Government to increase the number of local pensioners. “Hinihintay lang naming ang result ng Community Based Monitoring System (CBMS) para makita naming kung ano at sino ang higit na karapat-dapat para sa pension na ito,” said Ms. Adora Pascual, head of CSWD. Those five hundred pensioners came from 24 different Barangay in Biñan as a result of the identification and qualification of CSWD staffs. CSWD tied up with the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) and the presidents of senior citizen federation in each barangay to recommend a list of senior citizens and continued to look for qualified citizens to become pensioners.more photos
